چکیده
This study aims at evaluating the membrane stabilization potential of Solanum aethiopicum L. fruits extracts using an in vitro hemolytic assay. 2 mL of blood from healthy volunteers and patients with serologically confirmed current dengue infection were freshly collected and used in the assays. Fresh garden eggs fruits at three different maturity stages (immature, partly matured and matured) were cleaned with distilled water, crushed and the juice was extracted with 10 mL of ice cold distilled water. Freshly prepared cold water extracts of garden eggs fruits were used in the heat-induced and hypotonic-induced hemolytic assays. Extracts of garden egg fruits of all three maturity levels showed a significant reduction in heat-induced hemolysis compared to controls (P < 0.05). Garden egg fruits extracts of all three maturity levels showed more than 25% inhibition at a concentration of 37.5μg/mL. Inhibition activity of different maturity levels was not significantly (P > 0.05) different from one another. S. aethiopicum L. fruit extracts showed a significant inhibition of hemolysis in vitro.

The anti-inflammatory activity of garden egg (Solanum aethiopicum) on egg albumin-induced oedema and granuloma tissue formation in rats.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the possible anti-inflammatory effect of garden egg [Solanum aethiopicum (S. aethiopicum)] using experimentally induced inflammatory models in rats. METHODS Oedema was induced on the rat hind paw by the injection of 0.1 mL undiluted fresh egg albumin (philogistic agent) into the subplantar surface of the rat paw. Tissue granuloma was induced in the rats by the implantati...

This study aimed at investigating the antibacterial effects of extracts from leaf, fruit, and stem of Solanum nigrum on fish pathogenic bacteria. The extraction process was done using the rotary device. The leaf methanol extract and the fruit acetone extract (MIC and MBC of 25 and 12.5 ppm, respectively) showed stronger antibacterial properties. The Streptococcus iniae were the most resistant b...

Compounds contained in fruits and leaves of blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum L.) are known as agents acting preventively and therapeutically on the organism. The HPLC analysis showed they are rich in polyphenol anthocyanins in fruits and flavonoids in leaves, that have antioxidant activity and are beneficial for health. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of blackcurrant fruit and lea...
